Après une attente quasi-record (environ 9h) et une lente traversée (5h), j’ai pu arriver à Aqaba avec le « slow boat » qui fait la navette Nuweiba – Aqaba. Normalement, un service rapide existe mais pas ce jour-là. C’est donc à 4h du matin que j’ai pu finalement m’endormir sur le sol jordanien (ouf !).

Lendemain, petite découverte de la ville et préparatifs pour le Wadi Rum.

Premier élément notable, pas de détritus sur la voirie, des tableaux d’affichages avec des plans et un « tourist information centre » avec des brochures et plans. Retour à la civilisation 😉 !!!

Second point, si on exclue la mer, il y a pas grand chose à Aqaba. Le château (ou plutôt ses ruines) et le musée sont assez petits, il y a aussi les ruines d’une église romaine au nord (ou plutôt de vagues fondations), mais sinon assez peu de choses.

After a very long wait (about 9h) and a really slow boat travel (5h), I managed to arrived in Aqaba with Nuweiba (damn) slow boat. Normally, there is a fast boat that I planned to take, but this day there wasn’t. Finally, at about 4am, I have been able to sleep in Jordan !

The day after, I took some time to discover Aqaba and prepare my Wadi Rum desert safari.

First thing I notice, mainly by comparison with Egypt, a lot less of garbages in the street, some bulletin boards with map and tourist information center with papers and maps. Hurrah !

Second point, except diving, there is not much to do in Aqaba. The castle (or more precisely, its ruins) and the museum are relatively small. There is also some roman church ruins in the north, but nothing more than a day trip.
