Arrivée & Préparatifs

Parti depuis Schuhe, je suis reparti vers Lijiang (Bus 5) et de là un bus vers Qiotou [prononcé Chiato]. Après un tour rapide de la « ville », je suis finalement allé à la première guesthouse démarrant le trek, les autres options ne parlant pas anglais et ne pouvant pas me renseigner sur le trek.

Suivant la destination finale, les conditions météo et ses aptitudes, le trajet prend entre 2 et 3 jours.

Première partie de trek qui commence bien … je me perds … enfin, je perds le trail sans doute en suivant trop longtemps la route cimentée. A force d’interroger les locaux (en chinois naturellement) et d’identifier correctement les chemins indiqués (ah, vous parliez du petit chemin de terre et pas de la route principale …), je finis par arriver à la première étape pour le déjeuner (après 4h de marche au lieu des 2h prévues). Enfin, bon, y a pas mort d’hommes et j’ai eu quelques vues sympas.

       

Deuxième partie plus classique et je croise d’autres trekkers. C’est sous le soleil fort de début d’après-midi que je passe les « 28 bends » (28 lacets) sur une partie du chemin assez exposé au soleil. Enfin, après cette épreuve, on atteint le point le plus haut du trek (~2600m) avant de redescendre.

   

Et on poursuit après une petite pause, le 3ème segment pour rejoindre « Halfway guesthouse » (qui a priori, n’est halfway que si on fait l’ensemble du trek).

Au final trek sympa mais qui n’est en aucun cas comparable avec le tour des Annapurnas au Népal (aussi bien en longueur, qu’en altitude, panorama, etc.). La météo a été globalement très bonne.

Arrival

I left Schuhe and Lijiang to reach Qiotou. After my usual quick tour of hotel, I went to the first trekking guesthouse as other were « chinese only » and without any intels on the trek.

Depending on target, fitness and weather condition, the trek lasts between 2 or 3 days.

The first part of the trek was a bit funny as I lost myself, probably following concrete road for to long. After some time asking local people (chinese only of course !), identify correct path (you were talking about this small dirt path and not the bigger one …), I managed to arrived to the first stop for lunch. It was certainly longer than expected but nothing really worrying or dangerous and there were some nice views.

After lunch, second part is more classic, more trekkers on the path and a bit of difficulty with a « 28 bends » part under the sun of the beginning of afternoon. That’s just after you can enjoy the « top » view of the trek (~2600m).

On the last part of the day, we went down to « Halfway guesthouse » which is probably only halfway if you do the whole trek which was not the case of most trekkers, it seems.

Morning with a not so good sunrise as the sun is in front of me and I’m down between two range of montaines.

Some nice waterfall.

As we come back on the road on the bottom, we can go down to middle gorge, sadly with a full load of tourists arrived by bus.

It’s also sad that the path to the gorge were build by the different guesthouse families which ask for retribution (which is ok), but if you want to use different path up and down, you have to pay each family which double price. There is no combined ticket.

At last, the trek was cool, but nothing compared to a big trek like Round the Annapurnas in Nepal. A good thing was the weather which was very good and fit for the trek (sunny but not too hot).
