Je suis arrivé hier à Cuenca, sous la pluie … ca a fait un gros changement en venant de Guayaquil et sa chaleur quasi-étouffante (de ~24-32°C, passé à 15-20°C). Fort heureusement, la météo du jour a été bonne (couvert mais ensoleillé tout de même) malgré des prévisions similaires annonçant pluies et orages. Enfin, bon, à force de voyager, on se demande s’il y a un coin du monde avec des prévisions valables et de toute façon, sauf en cas de climat extrême, on continue d’avancer 😉

Toujours est-il, qu’après un premier tour du centre-ville et des églises, je me suis fait légèrement interpellé par une femme à la porte d’une des nombreuses églises de la ville sur ma foi et surtout si je croyais à la fin du monde du 21 décembre, donc demain, due à la fin du Calendrier maya. Il semblerait que pour Cuenca, le diocèse local ait prévu nombres de messes spéciales tout au long de la journée. Même aujourd’hui, jour de semaine, l’affluence dans certaines églises m’a semblé un peu forte (mais bon, c’est peut-être habituel). Donc, je vous donne rendez-vous dans quelques jours pour vérifier si on est encore là (mais, personnellement, je n’ai pas trop de doute 🙂

I arrived yesterday in Cuenca, under the rain … kind of a big change from Guayaquil and it’s heat (from ~24-32°C to 15-20°C). But today was a lot better, partly cloudy and sunny whereas forecast where staying on a similar wave with thunderstorm and rains. Anyway, while travelling, you end up asking yourself if there is a single place of the world with good weather forecast and whatever the weather, unless extreme, you do your stuff.

After a first day in downtown and its numerous churchs, I was asked on the front of church by a woman if I was believing in God and in the end of the world of Dec, 21st (tomorrow), mostly based on the end (of a cycle) of mayan calendar. It seems here, the local diocese has planned a number of extra celebration along the day. Even today, a weekday, it seems to me there was a lot more people than it would normally be (but don’t know normal state).
