Repart sur la route en mode auto-stop avec les transports en commun pour sortie de la zone urbaine de Miami (jusqu’à Florida city). Pas mal d’avertissements sur la difficulté particulière d’hitchhiker en Floride mais je savais que sur cette route, des bus locaux sont disponible si vraiment je n’avance pas.
Grace à un américano-brésilien, j’arrive finalement à Key Largo où je passerais une nuit. Après-midi rapide au ‘john pennekamp coral reef state park’: petits trails, un peu de snorkelling limité à cause de vent.

Jour suivant, je repars sur la route avec objectif d’atteindre Key west. A ma 3e voiture, j’ai la chance de rencontrer Sam, charmante américaine qui finalement passera l’après-midi avec moi entre le parc Bahia et visite de Key west. Et comme je disais à un auto-stoppeur américain rencontré le lendemain sur le chemin du retour, c’est pour ces moments-là, ces rencontres spontanées qu’on peut/VEUT voyager d’une façon que certains qualifieraient de folles (même si je ne suis certainement pas le plus fou [1] [2] mais un peu de folie a du bon des fois 🙂
- 7-miles bridge,
- Bahia honda state park: marche, plage, (encore trop de vent pour le snorkelling),
- Key West: South waypoint, Cubanan coffee shop, Duval street, Higgs beach,

Juste le tour en snorkelling le matin (pas de photos … sic) et retour l’après-midi en Miami … tenté en auto-stop mais du fait du temps limité (1/2j) et de l’absence de chance (à partir 1 petit ride), je suis rentré à Miami via les bus locaux (ce qui m’aura tout de même pris environ 8h, deux fois plus de temps que la normal entre les temps d’attente d’auto-stop, de bus, et la route. mais pour un prix de moins de 10$ contre 30-50$ via les bus/tours classiques … routard routard)
- Key west: snorkelling en bateau sur la 3e barrière de corail au monde (après l’Australie et le Belize, et la seule des US) (malheureusement, plus d’appareil photo étanche …) sur les spots de ‘Easter dry rock’ et ‘Rocky’ avec des petits barracudas, 2 requins, …
- Road back.

Back on the road as hitchhiker. Still used public transport to get out of the HUGE Miami urban zone (up to Florida city). I got many warnings that Florida was among the hardest state to hitchhike but I knew that, on this road, I could easily fall back to local bus if really stuck.
In the end, thanks to an american-brazilian guy, I managed to arrive to Key Largo where I spend a night. Quick afternoon in nearby ‘john pennekamp coral reef state park’: small trails, a bit of snorkelling but with little visibility with the wind.

Next day half on the road. On my 3rd car, I was luck to met Sam, a charming american girl with who I will finally stay all the afternoon between Bahia park and Key west. As I said to an american hitchhiker that I met the day after, It’s for these kinds of moments, those spontaneous meetings that I can/WANT to travel in a way some would say as crazy (and I’m certainly not the craziest [1] [2] but it’s good to be crazy sometimes 🙂

Only the snorkelling in morning (no photos) and back to Miami in the afternoon … try hitchhiking but finally back in bus as no luck (still took me 8h to be back, twice as direct bus, but for about 10$ vs 30-50$).
- Key west: snorkelling with boat to the 3rd coral reef barrier in the world (after Australia and Belize, and the only one of US) (sadly, no waterproof camera …) on the spots of ‘Easter dry rock’ and ‘Rocky’: small barracudas, 2 sharks, …
- road back.
