Visite

  • Esquipulas, ville frontalière avec le Honduras: Basilique du ‘jesus negro milagro’ (ville essentiellement pour pelerinage religieux, peu d’étrangers),

  • Guatemala city: centre historique/églises, marché,

  • Flores: ville/île, ruines maya (voir autre post), plage, Cave du serpent ou cuevas Actun Kan,

  • Antigua: vielle-ville, églises, volcan Pacaya (alt 2552m, actif/jets laves+pierres, dernière éruption 2010, …),

  • San Pedro la laguna/Lago Atitlan: village, marché, marches autour.

La météo a été très variable pendant mon séjour. Guatemala city a été essentiellement sous ciel gris et fortes pluies ce qui n’aide guère à apprécier la capitale. A l’inverse, 2 jours de très beau temps à Flores au début, une bonne journée à Tikal (même si elle a débuté par de la brume et de la pluie mais seulement une petite heure en tout début de matinée). Antigua et San Pedro ont eu de belles matinées mais comme pour le reste, rincage 90% des après-midi.

Visit

  • Esquipulas, border town with Honduras and Ocotepeque: Basilica of ‘jesus negro milagro’ (essentially a religious pilgrimage town, few foreigners),
  • Guatemala city: historic downtown/churches, market,
  • Flores: town/island, maya ruins (see other post), beach, serpent’s cave or cuevas Actun Kan,
  • Antigua: old town, churches, volcano Pacaya (alt 2552m, still active – can’t go further than ~600m from crater, last eruption 2010)
  • San Pedro la laguna/Lago Atitlan: town, market, walk around.

Weather has been very changing during my stay. Guatemala city was almost only grey sky and showers which didn’t help me to appreciate this capital. On contrary, 2 very sunny day in Flores and a good day in Tikal (even if it started with fog and 1h rain in early morning). Antigua and San Pedro had nice morning but as the rest, 90% of time showering in the afternoon.
