• Oz BBQ: le barbecue est un indispensable ici et même les parcs sont pré-équipés (suffit de venir avec la nourriture et le charbon et hop – à quand la même chose en France 🙂

Retour à des moyens de transport conventionnel compte-tenu du trajet: ferry et bus en soirée pour un petit 2h30 pour rejoindre Adelaïde.

• Marche en ville: North terrace, Rundle street, Chinatow, central market, victoria square, St Peter’s cathedral,  …,

Arrival

As the distance was small, I took the bundle ferry+bus in the evening from Penneshaw on Kangaroo island to Adelaïde. A short 2h30 later, I was at the central bus station of Adelaïde.

Kangaroo island, Australie

Arrivée

Ma phase auto-stop sur la Great Ocean Road s’est terminé de la meilleure façon qui soit, avec Wally et Chris qui habitent l’île et m’ont invité à passer une journée avec eux dans leur ferme. Comment découvrir l’île comme peu de voyageurs / touristes le font 🙂

Sur la route alors que je discutais avec l’une des personnes m’ayant permis d’avancer, j’ai croisé un storm trooper … un défi d’australien semble-t-il: le StormTrooper Trek (page facebook, geeksugar, gizmodo).

Visite

• Stokes bay et autour: côte, snorkel … petit scorpions, kangourous / wallabies / opossums de nuit, grotte, koala, plages,
  
  
  
  
• Pelican feeding at Kingscote,
  
• Raptor domain: hawl, falcon, eagle, …,
  
• Flinders chase national park: contraste saisissant lors d’un hike entre la végétation noircie et celle verte (résultat d’un feu de forêt en 2007 qui a touché ~20% de l’île et 80% du parc national),
  
• Hanson bay sanctuary: koala walk,
  
• Cape willoughby lighthouse + hike,
  
• un vignoble.

Globalement, très bonne météo pour profiter de l’île, bien ensoleillé au début, légèrement couvert et avec beaucoup de vent à la fin.

Arrival

My hitchhike of the Great Ocean Road finished in the best way it could have: a ride with kind Wally and Chris and an invitation to discover the island at their farm. A pleasure like probably few travellers / tourists can enjoy.

Only a special note about the road as I was riding on a truck, we saw a storm trooper walking on the road … a australian personal challenge for charity: the StormTrooper Trek (facebook, geeksugar, gizmodo).

Very good weather to discover the island, sunny at the beginning, slightly cloudy and a lot windy at the end.

Melbourne, Australie

Arrivée

Trouvé un covoiturage via gumtree (incontournable site web pour le pays) et après ~12h de route, arrivée à Melbourne (via l’intérieur). paysage guère varié et soleil de plomb.

Arrivée un peu tardive et mauvaise surprise, au fur et à mesure que je faisais mon tour des hostels … « full, full, full, … » problème des voyages longue durée, on a tendance à ignorer/oublier le calendrier … et là en plus des vacances d’été, des festivals, c’est l’open d’Australie … Au final, il m’aura fallu 1h30 pour me trouver un hôtel (avec pause).

Visite

• Ville: Hosier lane, federation square, churchs, parliament house, princess theatre, chinatown, rooftop bar,

  

  

  

• Royal botanic garden,
• St Kilda: plage et une baie quasi-dédiée aux kite-surfers, son night market,

  

  

• Sorrento: snorkelling avec les dauphins (un peu trop rapide à mon goût et avec une faible visibilité sous l’eau) et les phoques (beaucoup plus confortables et appréciables) (pas de photo sous-marine 😦 …)

  

• Open d’Australie depuis Federation square.

Arrival

I managed to find a rideshare trough gumtree (must website for australia) and after about 12h on the road through countryside, we arrived in Melbourne.
As backpacker traveller, I don’t check a lot the calendar, so this time, it was a bit difficult to find a hostel. It’s summer, there is festival and there is the Open of Australia … As a result, it took me about 1h30 to find a hostel which was not full (still, I took some break in the middle).

Visit

• City: Hosier lane, federation square, churchs, parliament house, princess theatre, chinatown, rooftop bar,
• Royal botanic garden,
• St Kilda: beach, night market and big kitesurfers spots,
• Sorrento: snorkelling with dolphins (a bit too fast for me and visibility underwater was low ~3-5m) and seals (very smelly, but more localized/enjoyable with good visibility) (sorry no underwater pictures 😦 ….)
• Open d’Australie from Federation square.

Sydney’s summer festival

Hasard du calendrier, je suis arrivé en plein summer festival à Sydney. Cela m’a permis d’assister à quelques shows et concerts gratuits et quelques autres, grâce à mon hôte de couchsurfing, je l’en remercie.

Un point appréciable de Sydney est que ca reste une ambiance assez relaxe (pour ne pas dire presque village 😉 ), à moins d’une heure des bushwalk / plages par train et pas cette impression écrasante des grandes villes/métropoles (comme New Delhi ou Beijing)
