Transport

Comme pour Sydney – Melbourne, j’ai essayé de trouvé un covoiturage via gumtree (et quelques autres forums) mais cette fois-ci, rien trouvé me correspondant et histoire de continuer en mode aventure, j’ai repris le mode auto-stoppeur.

Pourquoi ? challenge, aventure, autre façon de voyager, rencontres, économies d’argent, plus écologique … et puis il y a pire comme pays pour ce genre d’aventure 😉 [autres justifications plus étoffées sur hitchwiki, mangomanjaro, et chez un autre tourdumondiste]

J’ai rejoint en train Werribee, puis Geelong et ensuite avancer à coup d’auto-stop. En général entre 10 et 30min d’attente et ~4 changements pour faire la première journée avant d’arriver à bon port et que des bonnes rencontres 🙂

Merci  à David, Anny, Franck / Tina / A et Ross (J1), Martin, ?, Jay, Andrew (J2), Peter, Ti, ?, Trevor, Ken / Robin (J3), Tony, Wally / Chris (J4) de m’avoir permis d’avancer dans mon voyage et permis de passer un bon moment. (ainsi qu’à ceux que j’ai oublié ou dont je ne connais pas le nom. Au final arrêt dodo à Port Cambell, Mount Gambier (+2j) et Victor Harbor.

Port Campbell national park

C’est la partie la plus connue de la Great Ocean Road (ou GOR) qui s’étend entre Geelong et Portland (donc se termine avant Mount Gambier)

Mount Gambier

  • Umpherston Sinkhole,

  • Blue lake,

  • Cave gardens,
  • vignobles autour de Penola / Coonawarra++,

  • Australia day celebration: BBQ,
  • Découvre le bowling style Aussie (intermédiaire entre la pétanque française et le bowling).

Autres lieux d’intérêts que j’ai pas fait: Pikininie ponds (mais faut réserver 1 semaine à l’avance …), Ewan ponds, Mt Shank.

Victor Harbor

  • Granite island, animaux (phoques, possums, water rats),
  • coucher de soleil.

Transport

No rideshare through gumtree this time and as I didn’t want to wait to much, I left finally as hitchhiker. Multiples reasons like challenge, adventure, another way of travelling, more contacts with local people, cheap, green … and I thought Australia was THE hitchhiking country. (more in depth why on hitchwiki, mangomanjaro and another french world traveller)

I made my way by train to Werribee and Geelong and after hitchike all the way. Most of the time, I had about 10-30 minutes wait. It took me 4 rides to arrive to my first night stop on day one and no problem at all. I slept at Port Cambell, Mount Gambier (+2d) and Victor Harbor.
